Chapter 3. Representing Trends and Moment-to-Moment Variability in Dyadic and Family Processes Using State-Space Modeling Techniques

چکیده
State–space modeling techniques provide a convenient modeling platform for representing systematic trends as well as patterns of intraindividual variability around these trends. Their flexibility in accommodating multivariate processes renders them particularly suited to studying dyadic and family processes that show complex ebbs and flows over time. Using dyadic data collected during the Face-to-Face/Still-Face (FFSF) procedure, examples are provided to explicate the use of state–space models to capture two kinds of changes: systematic trends that are relatively smooth and slow-varying, and transient patterns of intraindividual variability that are manifested on a moment-to-moment basis. Consider the various forms of change processes that may be encountered in the studies of dyadic and family processes. In some cases, researchers may wish to focus on extracting systematic trends that are “smooth,” or unfold in structured ways. Such processes are referred to as intraindividual trends in the present chapter and examples may include a child who becomes more distressed as his/her attempts at getting a parent to comply with a request are repeatedly

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF STEEL MOMENT FRAME STRUCTURES USING THE GA-BASED REDUCED SEARCH SPACE (GA-RSS) TECHNIQUE
This paper proposes a GA-based reduced search space technique (GA-RSS) for the optimal design of steel moment frames. It tries to reduce the computation time by focusing the search around the boundaries of the constraints, using a ranking-based constraint handling to enhance the efficiency of the algorithm. This attempt to reduce the search space is due to the fact that in most optimization pro...
متن کاملSecond Moment of Queue Size with Stationary Arrival Processes and Arbitrary Queue Discipline
In this paper we consider a queuing system in which the service times of customers are independent and identically distributed random variables, the arrival process is stationary and has the property of orderliness, and the queue discipline is arbitrary. For this queuing system we obtain the steady state second moment of the queue size in terms of the stationary waiting time distribution of a s...
متن کاملMicro-modeling of Masonry Infilled RC Moment Resisting Frames to Investigate Arrangement of Compressive Diagonal Struts
Accurate modeling of masonry has been a major concern of the researchers in the past decades. Besides reinforced and unreinforced masonry structures, masonry can be found in frame structures as infill panels which are used as partitions and/or external walls. These elements role as a part of structure and introduce a large degree of nonlinearity into the system. In this study, a micro-modeling ...
متن کاملSynthesis, characterization, antibacterial activity and molecular modeling studies of Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes with phenylpyridylformamidine ligand
The Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes with phenylpyridylformamidine (PhPyF) ligand, [Ni(PhPyF)Cl2] and [Zn(PhPyF)Cl2], have been prepared and investigated using different chemical techniques such as elemental analysis, molar conductance, FT-IR, UV-vis spectra and magnetic moment. The obtained chemical analysis data showed the formation of 1:1 (metal: ligand) ratio. The square planar and tetrahedral g...
متن کاملAssessing Seismic Performance of the Elliptic Braced Moment Resisting Frame through Pushover Method
The seismic performance of elliptic braced moment resisting frame (ELBRF) is assessed here and is found that the structural behavior is improved and is of free of architectural space. The demand for seismic performance of ELBRF is estimated through conventional pushover methods of 3, 5, 7, and 10-story ELBRF frames and they are compared with special moment resisting frames (SMRF) and X-Braced C...
